i am fascinated with lights. i don't know why. actually, i don't think anyone knows about this fascination of mine. and what better holiday is there for lights aside from an american 4th of july? none other than christmas ...
when i was younger, i remember that snow-covered lawn with the nativity scene outlined in dancing (or what i think they call chasing lights?) lights. i don't remember the street, but we used to drive by that house and all i wanted to see were those lights. our christmas tree at home, lanterns and trees in other houses, displays in malls, even lampposts with christmas decor; i'd always go "wow...". here in the philippines, it was the parol and our christmas tree too! as i grew older, light festivals became the norm - the giant lanterns of pampanga, that place along gilmore that's hard to miss with all the lighted parols on both sides, ayala avenue, manila peninsula, and there's even a pyrotechnic festival sometime around dec 30. and even if it wasn't christmas, my trip to shanghai was all about the city at night. have you seen shanghai at night? wow! don't even think about the electric bill they're racking up.
i work in ortigas and the building ain't bad at all but it isn't rcbc plaza in makati or the makati stock exchange either. towards the end of november, they were sprucing up the lobby with lamps and christmas trees. i was thinking, "great, there's going to be a christmas tree in the lobby!" and for a couple of days, we'd see, little by little, what they had in mind. there was one giant tree in the middle and several smaller trees and capiz lanterns and lamps at the entrance for both towers. then they put up the curtain lights and of course, i got excited. then on december 1, they lit up the lights and put a smile on my face :)
and of course, there's my previous post of the coldplay video :)

Lights in Singapore |

We can't go wrong with lights. Even GOD Almighty made sure of that when He said, "'Let there be light,' and there was light. God saw that the light was good..."
Now thanks to the invention of the light bulb -- we can have light any time we want (barring any brownout, or blackout...hehe)!
I, too, am fascinated with lights. I think they excite our visual stimuli which in turn create some sort of sensation in our brains, or the other way around.
Well, other than Shanghai, Manila, and Pampanga, I'd venture to say New York (at night) and Paris will give you the visual pleasure that only lights can create.
Very, very nice article you wrote here, Lynchie! Keep it going!
Take care there, sister! GOD Bless you always!!!
